New York City Bars with a View: Sky Room Times Square
By Flightkeeper
When the weather gets nice, relaxing with a drink becomes an outdoor activity. In New York City, relaxing with a drink outdoors becomes even nicer when it comes with a panoramic view. The Sky Room Times Square offers a mellow, intimate setting among the skyscrapers 34 floors up, on top of the recently built Fairfield Inn and Suites. The Sky Room is made up of two floors with the rooftop lounge at the top and an indoor lounge at the lower floor. Each floor has stunning views of New York City skyscrapers.
The beautifully designed space creates a luxurious atmosphere that encourages you to wind down after a stressful day at work. Not only are you going to enjoy having a drink at the Sky Room, dining will be an equal pleasure. Unlike other New York City bars, the Sky Room's entrees offer traditional dishes with a twist: try the deep fried mac and cheese, the satay buffalo, or the bruschetta served with goat cheese. The desserts were also given equal attention, in fact some of the city's clothing designers contributed by creating their own personal dessert for the Sky Room.

Inspired Mixology
The Sky Room also features a new cocktail menu put together by award-winning mixologists. Try a Dragon Flight (Bacardi Dragon Berry mixed with freshly muddled strawberries, mint and limes, topped with a long shot of club soda), enjoy some Southern Exposure, (Woodford Reserve Bourbon poured into a muddled mix of seasonal berries and sour mix, then shaken vigorously, strained over ice, and energized with a splash of Monster Energy Drink and a float of Southern Comfort), or sit back with a Skynnirita (Patron Silver shaken with Patron Citronge orange liqueur, mint, fresh lime and mango juice, served on the rocks in a salt-rimmed glass). If none of these strike your fancy, don't worry, you have other choices on the menu, and they are all equally creative.
Happy Hour Deals
Happy Hour is a competitive time among New York City bars. The Sky Room from 4-7PM are going to be very popular given the drink specials. All bottled beers are $5 while well drinks and wine by the glass are only $7 -- in overpriced Times Square, I'll take that deal. They also have outstanding food specials. A generous portion of pizza is only $8 while a snack portion of calimari is $5. If you want something familiar but with a twist, try the Truffle Exceptional Fries for $8.
In addition, they have daily drink specials:
- Monday Drink Specials by Grey Goose - $8 Sky Room Summer Tea
- Tuesday Specials by Jose Cuervo - ½ Price Margarita Carafes and Pitchers
- Wednesday Drink Specials by Sagatiba Cachaca - $7 Caipirinha's
- Thursday Specials by Perrier Jouet - ½ Price Bottles of Perrier Jouet Grand Brut
- Friday Drink Specials by Bacardi - $7 Classic Mojitos/$9 Fruit Mojitos
But make no mistake, you're drinking at the Sky Room to enjoy the great views of a great city, New York City.
