My Favorite Dances from Dancing With The Stars Season 10

I found out why so many people like Dancing with the Stars, it's a whole lot of fun, it's informative and people get to wear some really flashy costumes.

For those who don't know, Dancing With The Stars is a reality show where celebrities pair up with professional ballroom dancers in order to learn different types of ballroom dancing and compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. For a celebrity to win, they must earn high scores from a three-judge panel. But it's not the couple with the highest scores that win. Those scores must be combined with the phone-in votes from the audience -- this is the twist from a regular competition -- because what happens is that the audience votes for couples that are not as talented but have that irresistible connection. Often times the person who wins is not the best dancer but is a combination of a high scorer and popular with the audience.

Part of what I like about this season is seeing a celebrity and his or her offstage persona. You get glimpses of what they are really like and how they work with other people. Other things I like to see is when a celebrity dances so badly it's unbelievable and when they dance so well you are pleasantly surprised. Kate Gosselin was positively hideous, I had to include what I thought was her worst dance. I don't think I would have believed it if I hadn't seen it. Her profession partner is Tony Dovolani and I really felt sorry for him.

The winners of Season 10 are Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls paired up with Derek Hough, one of the cast of professional dancers. The runners up were Evan Lysacek and Anna Trabunskaya.

Evan Lysacek, the men's figure skating Olympics champion came in second with his partner, Anna Trabunskaya. I thought this was a great dance, a paso doble with a "Twilight" theme, that they performed during the season and he got perfect scores on this as well.

However, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough had some really great dances as you can see below. Their Argentine Tango was smoldering. The Paso Doble done in the Fifties style is amazingly awesome. My personal favorite is their foxtrot which just makes me smile and reminds me of those old Gene Kelly musicals.  Derek Hough is responsible for the choreography and has done an amazing job and Nicole performed the choreography very well.

The judges scored their quickstep dance very low because they broke the rules. However the dance itself was a lot of fun to look at and it looked like they were having fun performing it as well.

Below Evan and Anna performed a samba that the judges hated. They said that it was too balletic to be a good samba because the samba is supposed to be earthy and sexy. I thought it looked great. The pair also did a delightful quickstep and I really like Anna's dress. Their Argentine Tango was also superb and they received a perfect score.  All the choreography was done by Anna Trabunskaya.

 I have never really heard of Kate Goselin until this program.  You just had to see how awful she dances, because there are no words to describe it.
