Decorating Your Dorm Room with Eye-Catching Posters
70For many college students, one of the most fun but daunting tasks is trying to transform their bare college dorm room into something that would be a cool statement about themselves. To decorate their dorm, students use paint and photographs but one of the most popular ways to decorate a dorm room is a huge poster that attracts our attention and becomes the room's focal point.
There is such a huge selection of posters of fine art, lithographs, and photographs available which make dorm decoration easy. In fact for most students it's finding that one poster that captures all that they want to say that is hard.
Below are some of the most eye-catching posters that captured a mood and is representative of an outlook in life. In one simple stroke you've decorated your place and and let everyone know something about your personality.
Tree of Life by Gustav Klimt
Klimt pairs the universal symbol of the tree of life which signifies love and rebirth with the classic love triangle that signifies betrayal and secret passion. The poster has so much detail with its vivid colors and art nouveau style that one can't help but gaze at it in admiration. Having this poster as part of your dorm room decor implies a certain sophistication of taste and appreciation for art.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Ralph Steadman
Ralph Steadman's illustrations are political and social caricatures of the subjects and their situation. In Fear and Loathing, you have a clear indication of what he thinks about Las Vegas culture. You can also tell he is British because the driver is driving from the wrong side. The student that has this poster as a dorm decoration has a sardonic and eclectic outlook in life and tends to be a realist.
Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso
You don't have to be a music student to appreciate this picture by Pablo Picasso. Here, a master guitarist bent by age, still holds on to his love of music and guitar playing which time has not diminished. This poster is so full of quiet passion. Decorating your dorm room with this poster of a fine modert art masterpiece is a deep thinker and appreciates the raging passion evoked by this poster.
Johnny Cash (Middle Finger)
Johnny Cash is a hero to all rebels and after winning a Grammy for Best Country Album in 1998, this 1970 photo was part of an ad placed in Billboard by Cash's music label with the caption "American Recordings and Johnny Cash would like to acknowledge the Nashville music establishment and country music radio for your support." Decorating your dorm with this poster, it's obvious that you like to shock people and go your own way.
Album Cover of Abbey Road - The Beatles
The Beatles's album cover for Abbey Road is one of the most famous album photos in history. It is one of the few albums that doesn't have any lettering. It was shot while the members walked a zebra crossing on the way to the studio to record their last album together as a group. You can see in this photo that the dynamic between the members had really changed and not for the better as they purposefully walk towards their recording session. This poster is full of nostalgia.
College dorm decorating is easy with posters and students can easily buy two, three, or even four to capture their many moods.

Flight Keeper,
Very useful hub. I may try some of these ideas when I go back to college on Saturday. I've got this shower curtain that I put over my bed last semester that was the cover of "We all live in a yellow submarine."
Thanks for sharing this,
